Description
Active substance: Clindamycin (as hydrochloride) – 25 mg, as clindamycin hydrochloride – 27.15 mg;
Types of animals for which VMP – Veterinary Medical Product is intended: Dogs and cats.
Therapeutic indications: In infections caused by clindamycin-sensitive bacteria such as:
Cats: treatment of infected wounds and abscesses caused by Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. susceptible to clindamycin.
Dogs: treatment of infected wounds, abscesses and infections of the oral cavity and teeth caused by or associated with Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Clostridium perfringens, sensitive to clindamycin;
– additional therapy during mechanical or surgical periodontal interventions in the treatment of infections of the gingival and periodontal tissues;
– treatment of osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
Contraindications: Clindamycin should not be administered to hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, horses, and ruminants because it may cause serious digestive disturbances in these species.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to clindamycin and/or lincomycin or to any of the excipients.
Adverse reactions: Vomiting and diarrhea have been observed. Clindamycin is likely to favor the proliferation of nonsusceptible microorganisms such as resistant Clostridia spp. and yeast. In case of secondary infection, appropriate corrective measures should be taken based on clinical observations.
Dosage and Administration: For oral use only.
Recommended dose:
Cats: – infected wounds, abscesses: 11 mg per kg of body weight for 24 hours or 5.5 mg/kg 3a 12 hours for 7 to 10 days. Treatment should be stopped if no therapeutic effect is observed after 4 days.
Dogs: – infected wounds, abscesses and infections of the oral cavity and teeth: 11 mg clindamycin per kg body weight for 24 hours or 5.5 mg/kg for 12 hours for 7 to 10 days. Treatment should be stopped if no therapeutic effect is observed after 4 days.
– treatment of bone infections (osteomyelitis): 11 mg clindamycin per kg body weight every 12 hours for a minimum period of 28 days. Treatment should be stopped if no therapeutic effect is observed after 14 days.
Dose Volume to be administered per kg body weight
5.5 mg/kg corresponds to approximately 0.25 ml per kg
11 mg/kg corresponds to approximately 0.5 ml per kg
To ensure administration of the correct dose, body mass should be determined as accurately as possible.
A 3 ml graduated syringe is provided to facilitate the application of the product.
The solution is flavoured. It can be administered directly into the animal’s mouth or added to a small amount of food.
Special conditions for storing the product: Do not store at a temperature above 30°C.
Best before: 11 / 2028. Shelf life after first opening the package – 28 days.
